Evacuation flights depart Spain after Hantavirus-hit ship docks

Groups of passengers and crew disembarked from a cruise ship hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak on Sunday to be evacuated to their home countries where they will isolate according to national protocols to prevent further spread of the disease.

Marking a breakthrough in hypersonic missile technology for India, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a 1,200-second runtime of its actively cooled scramjet full-scale combustor on Saturday. The test was conducted at the Scramjet Connect Pipe Test (SCPT) facility in Hyderabad, building on the successful 700-plus second test carried out in January.

How new DRDO system helps air missiles fly longer, strike better

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) last week successfully carried out the first flight trial of a system that can transform an unguided missile into a guided one.

The homegrown Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) system is essentially a kit that can be attached to a conventional missile. This helps the missile glide over long distances, and accurately strike a target.

High-Income countries could eliminate cervical cancer by 2048 but without expanded efforts in vaccination and screening, many women in lower- and middle-income regions, including India, will still face high risks of cervical cancer. According to a new modelling study in The Lancet, reaching the World Health Organization's (WHO) goals-vaccinating 90 per cent girls, screening 70 per cent women and treating 90 per cent of precancer and cancer cases-is crucial to eliminating cervical cancer globally and saving millions of lives.
